It may be cold outside, but Great Wolf Lodge is full of holiday warmth inside, and not just in the 84 degree waterpark. From now through January 4th, Great Wolf Lodge is transformed into a magical Snowland full of holiday décor, a life-sized ginger-bread house, visits with Santa, and snow-themed rooms and activities. Located about an hour southwest of Atlanta in LaGrange, Great Wolf Lodge makes the perfect staycation this holiday season. Holiday Décor EverywhereAn 18-foot north woods style Christmas tree is the first thing guests see when they walk through the lodge doors. The tree is adorned with woodland creatures and a wolf at the top. The rest of the Grand Lobby is decorated with wreaths, garland, twinkling lights, and giant snowflakes. Christmas music plays in the background. When guests check in they receive their special Snowland wolf ears. These were a hit with my daughter, who only took hers off when she splashed around in the water park. Life-sized Gingerbread HouseThe culinary team at Great Wolf Lodge spends weeks cooking up and creating a life-sized gingerbread house for Snowland. Think candy cane trim, graham-cracker ceiling beams and heaps of white icing snow. And while, yes, it smells extremely yummy, guests may not eat it. However, families may enjoy a meal inside it, and if you make reservations at the Great Wolf Lodge website through yelp, you can reserve a dining time for a fee. All fees benefit the Ronald McDonald House. Visits with SantaSanta visits Great Wolf Lodge regularly throughout the holidays, on Fridays and Saturdays until Dec. 14th. After that, he comes every night until Dec. 23rd. Parents can snap their child's photo with Santa in the Grand Lobby during these times. Snow “N” Glow PartiesIt snows three times a day in the Grand Lobby at Great Wolf Lodge during Snowland. My kids enjoyed the Snow “N” Glow Dance Parties after the evening story time. Children were jammin' in their jammies and waving glow sticks to a spunky version of “Let It Snow” while “snow” also danced around. This snow is perfect for a laid-back staycation because it isn't cold, and there are no wet snow boots to clean up after. Snowland SuitesUpgrade to a Snowland-themed Suite and walk into a room with a fully-decorated Christmas tree, garlands and twinkling lights. Get a milk and cookie delivery to your door by one of the Great Wolf Lodge characters. Our kids were so excited to get cookies at bedtime! Great Wolf Lodge WaterparkThe waterpark is what Great Wolf Lodge is all about! Our 5 and 7 year old loved the waterslides and Fort Mackenzie (the water area for toddlers and up). I was surprised that my 7 year old was brave enough to go down Otter Run (a real waterslide); for brave parents and bigger kids, you have to try out Wolf Tail at least once. Let's just say that the bottom drops out. The toddler water park areas is huge with three toddler size waterslides plus an elaborate play area. Both kids loved the trying to move across the lily pads; the outdoor pool is a nice, relaxing break from the indoor park. –plus it's all so clean with attentive lifeguards and friendly staff throughout. Magi-Quest can be played all day. Once your kids get the hang of it, they may not want to stop. Magi-Quest is Great Wolf Lodge's magical game experience. Plus there are more activities throughout the day, like face painting, games, cartoon drawing and more. Take a Wolf Walk around the Grand lobby, learn about animals and make an origami wolf souvenir. Lots of these events offer a chance to get your picture taken with Violet, Sammy or Wiley, the Great Wolf characters. Put on your PJs and head to the storytime that best fits your kids bedtime.
